What is Horseback Archery?

Horseback archery, mounted archery and horse archery are all used to describe the act of shooting a bow from the back of your equine partner. Yes, donkeys and mules can be used, too.

Imagine yourself sitting astride your noble steed, a war horse of modern times, galloping to battle with targets waiting to be pierced by your arrow. You load an arrow, draw your bow and.....thwack! It meets its mark, bringing you to yet another victory.

Yes, it IS that amazing AND thrilling AND empowering, all at the same time. And yes, YOU can do it, too.
Varying levels of participation available in our sport, ranging from recreational to international level competition provide a place for EVERYONE. You can practice alone at home, with family and friends, join a club or even start your own. The sky is the limit.

Elizabeth Tinnan is the founder and owner of Chattahoochee Horse Archers and Elizabeth Tinnan Mounted Archery. She is an international competitor, mentor, and offers horseback archery lessons (private and group training) as well as clinics across the United States.
